Itinerary
Early in the morning, depart Gondar and drive to Debark, the headquarters of Simien Mountains National Park (approximately 2.5–3 hours). After completing park registration and meeting your local guide and armed scout, continue driving into the park.
Begin trekking along the escarpment near Sankaber or Buyit Ras, one of the most scenic viewpoints in the Simien Mountains. Enjoy a moderate hike along cliff edges with breathtaking views over deep valleys and the northern lowlands.
During the trek, encounter large troops of gelada baboons, grazing peacefully nearby, and enjoy excellent birdwatching opportunities. Your guide will explain the region's unique geology, flora, fauna, and local highland life.
After a picnic lunch surrounded by stunning mountain scenery, continue trekking before returning by vehicle to Debark, then drive back to Gondar in the late afternoon.
