Itinerary
Drive from Gondar to Debark, the gateway to Simien Mountains National Park. After park formalities and meeting your scout and trekking crew, continue driving to the park entrance. Begin trekking toward Sankaber Camp, following the escarpment with stunning views over the lowlands.
Along the way, encounter large troops of gelada baboons and enjoy panoramic mountain scenery.
Trekking time: 3–4 hours
Overnight: Sankaber Campsite
Altitude: ~3,200 m
After breakfast, continue trekking along dramatic cliffs and ridges to Geech Camp. The trail offers spectacular views of the Simien escarpment and surrounding valleys. This area is excellent for birdwatching, including sightings of lammergeyers and other raptors.
Gelada baboons are commonly seen grazing along the route.

Overnight: Geech Campsite
Altitude: ~3,600 m
Today's trek is one of the most scenic in the Simien Mountains. Walk through high-altitude Afro-alpine landscapes toward Chenek Camp, located in a wide valley surrounded by towering peaks.
This area offers the best chance to see the endemic Walia ibex, as well as klipspringers and more gelada baboons. With luck, you may also spot the Ethiopian wolf.
Trekking time: 6–7 hours
Overnight: Chenek Campsite
Altitude: ~3,620 m
Wake early for a short hike around Chenek to enjoy sunrise views and wildlife sightings. After breakfast, trek or drive back to Debark, then continue by vehicle to Gondar, marking the end of your Simien Mountains trekking adventure.
