Itinerary
Drive from Gondar to Debark, the park headquarters of Simien Mountains National Park. After completing park formalities and meeting your guide, scout, and trekking crew, continue by vehicle to the trailhead.
Begin trekking toward Sankaber Camp, following the dramatic escarpment with panoramic views over the lowlands. Large troops of gelada baboons are commonly seen grazing nearby.
Trekking time: 3–4 hours
Overnight: Sankaber Campsite
Altitude: ~3,200 m
After breakfast, continue trekking along spectacular cliff edges and ridges to Geech Camp. This route offers some of the finest views in the Simien Mountains, including deep gorges and vast valleys.
This area is excellent for birdwatching, with frequent sightings of lammergeyers and other raptors, as well as more gelada baboons along the trail.
Trekking time: 5–6 hours
Overnight: Geech Campsite
Altitude: ~3,600 m
Wake early to enjoy sunrise views over the escarpment. After breakfast, trek back toward the road, then transfer by vehicle to Debark and continue to Gondar, marking the end of your Simien Mountains trekking experience.
